Overworked

Why am I not surprised of NOT having an off weekend this time? (Scoffs)

I knew if there wasn't much work on Monday, I would most likely be free during the weekend. As design studies on Mon tends to give the heaviest workload.

Before I could even shout, 'I'm free!', there comes another set of exercises to be handed in.

Enjoy reading this list of assignments to be handed in by next week:
- Design studies: A2 Sketch of Individual Model (Due Mon)
- Construction Studies: Foundation system of House Model (Due Wed)
- Communication & Drafting: 11 pieces of A3 Sketches on Tone and Texture (Due Thurs)
- Introduction to Structure: A report of more than 10 pages worth of information and drawings (Due Thurs)

I better hit the sack now.

I need my Sanity.

Lights the fire within

I knew I had the rights to rejoice when the 3D model came to completion.

But I guess the lecturers wouldn't let me stay in this comfort zone of completion for long.

Because.. Our following task was to sketch our respective models on 2 pieces of A2 size papers.

I didn't feel that I was walking alone in the dark as most of my course mates stayed up that night too, completing these 2 'freakazoids'. Hah! I'm just kidding. These sketches aren't that bad. Just a little too soon to be handed in in such a short period of time.

I stayed up since 6pm on Sunday and came to my 'second' completion at 6.15am the following day. So here's it.. My sketches on 2D and 3D drawings.

First A2 paper.
Explaination:

-The 2D drawing is basically the plan of my model. (Top view) which consists of 3 categories (ie. Symmetry, Axis & Rhythm) from the Ordering principles.
- 3D drawing drawn exact to the live model.

Such drawing was impossible to be achieved without the aid of construction lines because everything had to be hand drawn and the ruler should be placed out of sight.

Details were also compulsory to be expressed not only on the modelling board but on paper too.

Second A2 paper.
Explaination: Shadow casting.

Artificial light was unacceptable.
We could only make use of sunlight due to it's large projection of light rays from above which is believed to cast out solid shadows.

Of course, such shadows were retained with the help of the camera. All we had to do was sketch from the pictures. (Which isn't advisable by the lectureres).

Yea. As if I would sit under the hot sun during the day. (Laughs)

Shadow casting from the first angle.

And the second angle.

My lecturers needed me to upgrade abit on the shadow and darkening of the lines. I'm glad that I wasn't asked to redo. Still, honestly I think I would do so for the Second A2 drawing because I simply don't feel satisfied with it yet.

I knew I didn't do my best for the second drawing because, I was rushing throughout during sketching. As it was like.. 3am. O.O I knew I was incapable of taking my sweet time, drawing every single detail neatly because if I did, I wouldn't be able to complete it.

Undeniably, it was hard to have such determination to stay up because my nice and cozy bed was just next to my study table. How helpful and tempting huh.

Of course, in the end, I did think of the consequences I would face if I slacked.

Lastly, here's a song which you must listen because it does help me get through hard times. I listened to Lights the fire within that night and it did drive me to press on.

Have no fear when darkness falls
'cause there's a light that shines within us all
although this world can turn so cold
when we reach inside we find our warmth

'cause there's a flame that burns in every heart
and it's the will we have that lights the spark

[chorus]

once in every lifetime there's a chance to stand apart
we can show the world our very best reveal what's in our heart

so the story goes and glory never will end

inspiration lights the fire within

and if we fall we won't stay down
we will get back up and use the strength we've found
and we will rise like champions
every obstacle we'll overcome

[repeat chorus]

and if we just stay strong
then our hearts will move us on

[repeat chorus]

each heart there burns desire
inspiration lights the fire within

Music has the power to impact the behaviours of our lives. Hence, it is always wise to choose the right kind of music for your inner man. =) Till here then. Cheerio~

Extremely Disturbed

Look, what I'm trying to bring up here isn't suppose to sound racist or have anything to do with any racial interaction issues. Instead, I am merely emphasizing on the dilemma of the matter.

Earlier on after service at church, I was planning to take away lunch from the cafeteria. I didn't notice much about the surroundings until this 25 year old Nigerian guy came up to me and initated a conversation. Of course, on fair grounds, I would definitely not be rude and just interact with whatever he was saying. Although it was hard to understand. Nevertheless, I still tried to listen.

After paying for my own lunch, he invited me to join him and his friends at a table nearby. Initially, I assumed such approach to be pretty harmless. Hence, I went there with an open mind, sat down and mingled around.

Slowly, I started to realize that I felt uncomfortable. The feeling went intense after a few seconds. He was being too pushy. Demanding for answers to his questions within like, What?? 5 minutes?!! I felt that it was too much for an acquaintance to know.

He blurted out sentences about getting together and marrying him. ?!?!? Somewhere along the line. I felt really appalled and repulsed. I wouldn't mind if he was kidding but he sounded so solemn and was literally demanding for my number and insisting on visiting me. I had the urge of telling him that I wasn't comfortable giving him my number. That includes, hanging out with him and what more.. Marrying him. What the Hell.

Due to his persistence, and the tension I was getting, I couldn't help but gave him my stupid phone number. In my mind, I was practically wailing for help from my friend Audrey and at the same time giving him a frozen and forceful smile.

When Audrey saw me, she quickly called for my name and asked me to leave. I was relieved. Finally, Audrey came. Obligated, I bid goodbye to this guy. Here's the worst part, before I stood up and was about to leave, he grabbed my hand which was resting on my lap, from under the table! I was seriously stunned and shocked. At that point, I felt like crying because the grab wasn't a casual-friendly one. Instead, it was more like a grasp with deep meaning swirling within. That was what made me felt extremely disturbed.

As I was wearing a short skirt, when I stood up, he went staring (without guilt) at my legs. I was really... Speechless. Felt so upset and quickly left the scene.

When I got into the car with Audrey (who was fetching me back), I was too shocked to speak. My lips couldn't utter any words. Audrey knew it and told me that in future, I should reject straight in such guys' faces. She said, she will let the pastor of the church who deals with Nigerians know about this case.

Although it was only a 5 minutes interaction with the guy, till now, I still cant get over with the shock. I am feeling very disturbed.

Daddy's day.

It's a special occasion and I wish to spend this really important day with my dad. Unfortunately, it's impossible because I'm overseas.

Firstly, before I start, I want to thank god, my Heavenly Father for giving me someone so special.

Happy Father's day Daddy!! =)

And also wishing Happy Daddy's day to all the great fathers in the world!!
Y'all have been the Best! =)
May God bless you all abundantly!

Ulu Night

Assignments.. Models.. Report.. Work.. Tests.. Late Nights..

More Assignments.. Ugh!

Anyways, it's a thursday night. Means weekend for us. We do deserve a time out from all these stress causing factors.

Hence, we thought it's about time to officially start our Waxing and Masking day that night.

We started off waxing our calves. Slowly, our thighs.. then.. arms. Twice removed for me. (laughs).

It's not really wise to take pictures of ourselves waxing because we are so not proud of our Hair. Sometimes I wonder why girls have so much hair on the 'non-compulsory' areas?

Probably too much testosterone from our dads. Pfft.

We love to Veet!
Because it smoothens our skin. Rrrr~~

Life would be so dull without food. No doubt. Like it or not. You just have to agree with it.

It's in the middle of the night, and you will see us carrying our groceries and junkfood to the room. Pigging.

Jamming up Alice & Angeline's room with Food.

JL with her mug of milo and noodles.

The great thing about us is.. We are so willing to share each other's food no matter how disgusting we presented ourselves to the food.

mam mam!!

Getting repulsed with one another is definitely not found in our dictionary.

Shveet.

I brought up my tray of eggs.

Rice cooker, cooking oil... of course.

Yes. It is possible to fry eggs using the rice cooker.

Thank me for being the chef of the night. Everyone liked my fried eggs. HAH!

Here's another theory you should comprehend. After a hearty meal, it's impossible for us to stick to the idea of cleaning up because normally, we would be all bloated and lazy to do so.

I just said we were lazy to clean up.

Of course, when it comes to beautifying ourselves, that's another story. (grins)

Here comes the dynamic title of the post..

We love to Shiseido!

Probably too much of Ulu and Kampong talks among ourselves, we felt freaking Ulu.

Black mud and a lil coconut tree on the head presents the cutest looking Ulu girl. (Ulu No. 3)

Ulu No. 2 loves her broom.

Uga! Uga! Uga!

The Ulu ulu family.

Ulu no. 3 stole my broom. Pfft.

Threat (Ulu No. 2) detected by Ulu No. 3.

We also made our very own Ulu family video.

video

Feel free to learn & understand our culture and custom. ;)

Energetic bunch of Ulu-s at 2am.

And a weird green alien in the background. pfft.

After Shiseido-ing, we remained in the room, chit chatting till 330am. Watching the stupid video we made that night. (laughs)

No more Ulu No. 2.

More to a siao cha-bo with a yellow soft toy.

An Eventful and Memorable week

Architecture week, a week whereby architecture students (duh), like us were given a break. With the addition of assignments and a camping trip. Pfft.

I wasn't looking forward to the assignments part. Camping trip? Hmm. So-so.

That was because I stayed up all night working on my model which was supposed to be completed within one week. Instead, I crammed everything in one day! From monday evening (5pm) to tuesday lunch (12pm). I was literally sitting at the table, doing the model for 18 hours straight! I slept for half an hour, which was on Tuesday morning at 11.

I was going to Singapore the second day. Hence, I chose to complete this before I take a week off.

Although time was limiting, I still did this model with care and patience. As this is the most important assignment for Design studies of the semester.

My hard work came in result of this..

With an addition of..

Back pain (quite bad). Dark eye rings.

Neck pain. Scractches on my fingers.

Terrible aching of the arms' muscles.

All these maybe torturing. But I truly enjoyed it and it was worth the pain. I felt that my burden has lightened so much. =)

Completed the model at about 12.30pm. Showered. Packed. Rushed off downstairs and waited for the bus to pick us up for the camping trip. I was darn tired with an aching head. LOL.

Behind those sunnies were dark eye rings. O.O

Anyways, Camping was just for a day. It was held at Gombak, near the border of Selangor (I suppose). Approximately an hour bus ride from my uni.

I felt so surprised when I saw this photo. Apparently, almost everyone was dozing off in the bus!
Shveet!

(Sulks) All of us were required to visit the traditional museum. Pfft. Mainly to take pictures of the antiques and sketch for our communication and drafting studies. How interesting. (Sarcasm)

Musium Ulu Ulu Kampong Kampong!!

Kampong Girl was excited XD

Cayman dragged me to do stupid things with him in the museum.
Hah! I shall not oblige. Just an exchange of sunnies.

Ryan playing tourist.

After the museum, we were off to our tents.

My huge arse back pack was heavy, but it was quite convenient and comfortable carrying it.

The ideal pair of comedians hails.

Girls' territory

Dumping our bags and getting into groups.

Dawn fell, mosquitoes came buzzing around..

It was really annoying. I'm glad that I brought my orange scented insect repellent. =D It's like the sweetest smelling IR ever you know?! =D

A DAMN FAT GLUTTON!
(Munching on 'worship ghosts' biscuits)
Stupid inside joke created by Chong. PFFT!

Night came, we changed into long sleeves.

Chong 'act cute' and Edmund at the door of our tent.

I remember nodding off, severely while these night activities went on in the common hall.

Don't get me wrong. It wasn't boring. I was exhausted.

At about 12 midnight, we went night tracking in the Jungle. It was really interesting. And challenging. Some dude was being a pain in the ass. I shall not talk about it. (Rolls eyes)

Second day, this was our day for full jungle tracking and water activities.

Crossing the waters.

Some dam which we had to cross at the beginning of our journey.

SOAKED SHOES!
Had to roll up my long pants. I looked like a farmer.

Beginning of our jungle track.

A long, dark water tunnel which was compulsory for everyone to cross.

Guys sitting in the cool water.

'I'm in a tunnel!'

End of the tunnel.
Hey, the water was really clean!

'My name is CHONG!' (Inside joke)

Waddling through the jungle.

Back on the tracks.

Kampong girl and her frozen smile.

Beautiful soft sun rays.

The most exciting part came..

Waterfall!

At the foot of the waterfall.

Everyone had to climb up to this oh-so steep hill in order to go over to the highest point of the waterfall which was on the opposite side.

These guys were excited for the waterfall activity. So was I. =D

40 people assembled

Instructor briefing about the waterfall rapelling procedures and precautions.

Putting on their gears. Getting ready for the fun.

Ryan =.=

It took quite some time until it was my turn. Before that, our group was at the head of the waterfall doing survival cooking. I barely helped. Was busy splashing and fooling around with a couple of friends. =D

I felt fairly nervous & was worried that I might get injured. But due to being adventurous, and with an assurance of safety from the instructors, I have managed to give it a go.

Yup. That tiny 'thing' in Red bellows Angelina Tan.

I remember my legs slipping a couple of times while I was sliding down the rope.

A couple of times, I almost rammed my face and body into the slippery rock. LOL.

As you know, this is my very first time and I totally have no idea how this thing works. Actually it would have been right if I crossed to the right side of the waterfall at the very top where the water isn't that rushing. Instead, my amateur mind told me to stick to the 'go straight down' rule.

Coming to this tough point. I was like.. 'Oh shit. How am I suppose to get down?' O.O

I knew there was a safety line. Hence, it was ok even if I let go and let the people do the job. So I did. The next thing I knew was.. *body turns, facing the rock* and *bang!* straight into the rock behind. I was like.. 'AHH! Shitzz!'

I stuck behind the waterfall. With my butt aching. Haha. Thank god it didnt hit my back that hard. The part which hurt most was my butt. XD

Forcing a smile with the pain on the bottom. Wahahaha!!

I didnt feel that I was stupid. Because most people had their problems while descending down the waterfall. At least I wasn't like someone, who literally rammed his face and body flat into the rock. (nudges chong) XD that was hilarious! I couldnt stop laughing. Man, I'm so mean. XD

The whole even lasted for about 6 hours. After that, we walked back to our camp. Had lunch and left at about 4pm.

I rushed back. Got my luggage packed and was off to catch the 6.30pm bus to Singapore. Day was really tiring but enjoyable. I felt so excited to go to SG.

That night, I arrived at 11.30pm.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, I was off to IKEA for lunch with Ervin and David.

Forgive me, because I hail from the land of Brunei and there's no IKEA in Brunei. Hence, this was my very first time to taste these unique sweedish meatballs. They were soooo gooooddd!!! EEEK!

Walked around Suntec City. Vin and Vid were getting gadgets from the fare.

That night, Vin and I visited the Night Safari and we watched the animal shows.

I can't deny, I'm very impressed with the way Singapore carries out things. Did it ever occur to you that Singapore was actually the first to establish a Night safari in the whole world? Or was it the Biggest night safari. I'm sure it's One of those. Or probably both. Very impressive.

Making out with the Zebra.

Viewing Sentosa from the deck of Vivo city. Singapore's very first Casino is still undergoing construction.

Photographer: Vin.
Ps. That's me wearing my new set of clothes from Vivo City.

Few days went pass. With Vin being my tour guide and bringing me around.

On Saturday morning, I went to this beautiful place in Singapore with Vin and his family. I totally forgot the name. O.O It's really beautiful!
Reminds me so much about Architecture studies.
I love the concave walls.

Shell like structures along the bridge.

We came to this long steel bridge leading us down the hill. I think it was about 2-3 (or more) kilometers long!!

Nice

Green Architecture
It's very in now.

At the base of the hill.
Reflection of the interaction of buildings and nature.

Beautiful plants like flowers were planted in these 'air conditioned' rooms.

Didnt get to take that many pictures this trip.
As for shopping, I bought these accessories!!

And 3 pieces of T-shirts, a belt, a top and an Mango tank top. That's all I can remember.

Of course, rings too!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the Greatest present of the year. =)

An adorable buffalo with shades.
I love the shades so much.

And a piggy with the hallow, wings and pacifier. =.=
Pacifier? If you were to ask me now, it's the sweetest thing ever.
All you gotta do is deep the pacifier in alcohol, let the piggy suck and it will be quiet. ;)

A beautiful set which doesn't have to cost much..

Because the meaning from the heart counts most.
Thanks Ervin. =)

Time flies. It's a moment for me to go back to KL.

One week with you means alot to me..

At least you're accompanying me back for the last time until the next 6 months.. <3 style="text-align: center;">Goodbye Singapore!
